My mom is on Medicare with a Wellcare drug plan and Eliquis is killing her budget. Is there a cheaper way?
Claude with EveryCard Rx
The good news is your mom's yearly costs are already capped, and two free or near-free programs may apply to her.
If you send me her ZIP code, the plan ID from her Wellcare card, roughly what she's paid this year and a ballpark of her income, I can work out what she'd pay under her plan and which programs she's likely to qualify for.
Person
Her card says Wellcare Classic (PDP), S4802-083. She lives in 33774. She just started the plan this month, so nothing paid yet. She gets about $1,900 a month from Social Security and lives alone. She takes Eliquis 5 mg twice a day.
Claude with EveryCard Rx
I ran her plan and numbers. Without help, Eliquis will cost her about $250 a month for now. She's in a strong position for Extra Help, though, which would cut that to a few dollars per fill.
The plan has a $615 deductible, and she hasn't paid any of it yet. Until it's met, she pays the plan's full price: about $248.70 per 30-day fill (Tier 3).
For one person, the income limit is about $23,940 a year. $1,900 × 12 = $22,800, so she's under it. She also needs savings under about $18,090, not counting her home or car.
Person
I don't have insurance and I need Trulicity. Can you help me apply for the free program?
Claude with EveryCard Rx
Yes. Trulicity is made by Lilly, and their free-medicine program, Lilly Cares, accepts people with no insurance. The main test is income: for Trulicity, yearly household income before taxes has to be under about $47,880 for 1 person, $64,920 for 2, $81,960 for 3, or $99,000 for 4. Whether you qualify is Lilly's decision, but if you're under the limit you may qualify for free medicine for up to 12 months.
I'll never ask for your Social Security number or a signature. You'll do those by hand on the paper form.
Person
It's for my friend Marcus Hill. 1.5 mg once a week. Born 11/30/1979. 2200 Elgin St, Houston TX 77004, phone 713-555-0142. Just him in the household, about $30,000 a year. Ship to his home, no auto refills, no family contact. Do you need his social?
Claude with EveryCard Rx
No, I don't need his Social Security number, and I won't put it in the link. If the paper form asks for it, Marcus writes it in himself.
At about $30,000 a year in a household of one, he's well under the $47,880 limit, so he may qualify.
Is all of that correct? Once you confirm, I'll send the link that fills in the official form.
Person
Yes, that's all correct.

Questions people ask.
Is EveryCard Rx insurance?
No. It shows the cash prices sellers publish, what your own Medicare plan charges, and programs you may qualify for. The pharmacy’s price at the counter is final.
How does EveryCard Rx make money?
We may earn a small fee when our savings card is used. It never changes the order of your prices, not even on a tie. Options that cost the same are listed nearest pharmacy first.
Where do the prices come from?
From Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, pharmacy price lists, drug makers’ own cash prices and Medicare’s plan files. Every price names its source and when it was checked.
Can I use it with Medicare?
Yes. Enter the plan ID from the member card and we look up what your plan charges, from Medicare’s own files. Drug-maker copay cards are left out, because Medicare doesn’t allow them.
What do you do with my searches?
